TRIVIA: After a two-year hiatus, the Bratz brand returned in 2021 to celebrate the brand’s twentieth anniversary with reproductions of the debut dolls from 2001. Starting this year, the brand has shifted its focus to reproductions, one-off special edition dolls, and designer collaborations.

20 YEARZ SPECIAL EDITION

NOTE: While this collection is intended as a reproduction of the First Edition line from 2001, there are some differences (aside from packaging) that differentiate this collection from the 2001 collection and its 2005 re-release. Each doll has longer (and in some cases, thicker) hair, slightly different face screenings, different color palettes (i.e. Cloe has darker eyebrows and Sasha has a different lipstick color), and harder bodies (similar to the Party collection from 2010 and Collector line from 2018). The faces and makeup colors may differ between some dolls due to the stamping method used to apply the dolls’ faces. For example, V1 of Cloe is the “normal face” version of Cloe from the earlier batches while V2 is considered the “wonky face” version; V3 of Cloe has a reworked version of her face produced for later batches of this releases. V1 of Sasha’s eyes are closer together, while V2 of Sasha’s eyes are further apart and appear more elongated across the face. Later batches of the dolls have nylon hair as opposed to the more commonly-used saran hair used in the earlier batches; V3 of Cloe and V2 of Sasha have a higher chance of having nylon hair as these are later batch releases, while Jade and Yasmin are a toss-up because they do not have major facial variants that indicate whether or not they are from a later batch.

ROCK ANGELZ 20 YEARZ SPECIAL EDITION (FIRST BATCH)

NOTE: Shortly after their release in October 2021, Roxxi and Sasha were recalled. This collection marks the first known time MGA has used UV printing to apply the dolls’ faces, which led to an array of face misalignment issues during production. A second batch with revised faces was released in March 2022.
