Hey Angelz!

If you’ve been following Lookin’ Bratz (@lookinbratz) on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, you’ll know that there’s been tons of news regarding the Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition reproduction dolls! This blog post is intended as a breakdown of what news has come out, focusing on the details of the release of the new Rock Angelz reproduction dolls. Keep reading if you want to learn more!

WHAT DO THE DOLLS LOOK LIKE?

If you haven’t seen yet, official stock pictures of the new Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls have come out via Amazon. Check out the gallery to see all the pics (click on an image to see it in gallery view)!

WHAT THE DOLLS COME WITH

Each Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition doll comes with the following: two mix-and-match outfits (including a faux leather jacket), collectible guitar, display stand, microphone with stand, hat, jewelry, and a poster.

ARE THE DOLLS DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINALS?

Just like the Bratz 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls from earlier this year, the Rock Angelz reproductions have variations from their original counterparts that set them apart from each other. Most notably, the dolls’ face screenings use a different method than the original Rock Angelz dolls (sans Roxxi) that make them different. All of the new Rock Angelz are theorized to have used the tampo (also known as “sticker”) method to apply their facial features that the original Rock Angelz Roxxi also used, while the core four Rock Angelz dolls from 2005 used the spray method. Some fans are upset with the tampo method as it has altered some of the dolls’ facial features and some dolls are more prone to look wonky. Please note that it is not confirmed if the dolls use the tampo method and this is just a theory. Another theory is that the dolls’ faces are UV printed, which is another cost-effective and fast method often used on dolls from other companies. Each doll has a belly button piercing, but does not include a navel tattoo like some variants of the OG Rock Angelz. Another notable difference between the reproductions and the originals is that the new dolls have longer hair, some of the clothing use different fabrics from the OGs, the box shape is slightly rounder, some accessories are missing, the CD is replaced with a QR code that directs consumers to a website called BratzRockAngelz.com, and the 20 Yearz logo motif is added. Additionally, Sasha’s artwork has been altered to more accurately reflect her skintone. You can compare the reproductions with pictures of the originals from this page: https://www.lookinbratz.com/database/bratz-2005/dolls (look under “Rock Angelz”).

WHAT ABOUT THE CRUISER?

The Rock Angelz Cruiser is also coming out, but there are some differences with it! The Cruiser is not an exact replica of the original Rock Angelz Cruiser, but rather a reproduction of the original FM Cruiser from 2002 in a new color scheme. The Cruiser does not come with a doll, although it was originally listed as having one back in March. You can check out pictures of the new Rock Angelz Cruiser in the gallery below (click on an image to see it in gallery view)!

PRICE POINT

The Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls will retail at $36.99 USD and the Cruiser will retail at $60.99 USD.

WHERE CAN THE DOLLS AND CRUSIER BE PURCHASED?

So far, the Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls and Cruiser are available for pre-order on Amazon. The dolls should be available on Amazon internationally, so be sure to check out your country’s Amazon to see if they get them in stock! I will not be posting about each country’s Amazon that gets them in stock.

In the United States, the dolls are expected to arrive in brick-and-mortar Walmart and Target stores as their listings have been found in those store’s systems; however, I recommend waiting till MGA/Bratz (check out the official Bratz social media channels) for announcements about this. For other countries, I recommend checking out the stores and online retailers that received the other 20 Yearz reproduction dolls from earlier this year to see if they get the Rock Angelz in stock. Some stores that previously received the 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls are Walmart (Canada), Myer (Australia), Toyworld (Australia), Toy Kingdom (Philippines), Toys “R” Us (Philippines), Lazada (Philippines), and The Entertainer (United Kingdom). If any announcements pop up over the coming weeks about availability, they will likely be posted all over the Lookin’ Bratz Instagram (check out the story or “News 2021” story highlights), Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

You can also contact MGA Entertainment’s international offices at https://www.mgae.com/contact to find out if they will be sold at retailers in your country!

RELEASE DATE

The dolls are listed as being available on October 1, 2021, but MGA Customer Care has confirmed that the dolls should be available on October 5, 2021. There is no guarantee that the dolls will be available on these dates as distribution of products has been sporadic due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Your best bet is to be patient and wait for official announcements made on the Bratz social media channels!

LIMITED EDITION?

Nope. The Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz reproduction dolls will not be limited edition.

QUALITY CONTROL

As mentioned previously, the dolls are prone to having wonky faces; this means that some eye placements may be misaligned or lips may be uneven, some facial flaws are expected to happen in production. It should be noted that toy production has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, so toys are taking longer to be manufactured and shipped outside of China. Thus, there is more demand for dolls and that means production on products is rushed to meet that demand. Take this into account when purchasing new dolls, and try to buy in-stores (if possible, of course) to find the doll you consider perfect.

ARE MORE DOLLS COMING OUT?

As far as anyone knows, there will be no more Rock Angelz dolls coming out. However, more Bratz dolls are expected to come out later this year. You can check out a list of all the upcoming releases on the Bratz 20th Anniversary Masterpost at https://www.lookinbratz.com/blog/bratz-2021-news!

UPDATE 10/19/21: It was speculated that the Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz dolls would make their way to stores on October 11th when a Walmart U.S. employee stated that they expected to get them in on that date, but this has not happened since.

A few days ago, Cloe, Yasmin, and Jade’s listings were updated to include the following: “Collect Cloe, Yasmin, and Jade Bratz Rock Angelz dolls and the Bratz Rock Angelz Cruiser. Available now! Sasha and Roxxi coming soon!” Based on this description, it can be assumed that there are production delays and that there might be some changes made to the next batch of dolls because many fans were disappointed by the quality control on the first batch. Because there is a toy shortage this year, we may not be able to buy these dolls for a few months; it may even be until next year before fans can get their hands on the new Rock Angelz dolls.

There has been one instance of an Instagram user finding Roxxi at a GameStop in Canada, but nobody else has reported finding them in physical retailers yet. In the meantime, it may be best to wait for MGA/Bratz to address this release as no other information has materialized.

UPDATE 11/18/21: In case you missed it, the Bratz Rock Angelz website was released and updated with downloadable content featuring animated Rock Angelz artwork by Raja Dava. Rock Angelz Roxxi and Sasha have been confirmed to be recalled, and they are expected to be re-released with improvements eventually. MGA and Bratz have provided no timeline on the re-release of Roxxi and Sasha, but have started advertising Cloe, Yasmin, Jade, and the Cruiser. I will not be posting any more updates regarding the Rock Angelz release until something significant happens.
