Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition Dolls: What We Know So Far! (UPDATED 11/18/21)

Hey Angelz!

If you’ve been following Lookin’ Bratz (@lookinbratz) on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, you’ll know that there’s been tons of news regarding the Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition reproduction dolls! This blog post is intended as a breakdown of what news has come out, focusing on the details of the release of the new Rock Angelz reproduction dolls. Keep reading if you want to learn more!

WHAT DO THE DOLLS LOOK LIKE?

If you haven’t seen yet, official stock pictures of the new Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls have come out via Amazon. Check out the gallery to see all the pics (click on an image to see it in gallery view)!

WHAT THE DOLLS COME WITH

Each Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition doll comes with the following: two mix-and-match outfits (including a faux leather jacket), collectible guitar, display stand, microphone with stand, hat, jewelry, and a poster.

ARE THE DOLLS DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINALS?

Just like the Bratz 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls from earlier this year, the Rock Angelz reproductions have variations from their original counterparts that set them apart from each other. Most notably, the dolls’ face screenings use a different method than the original Rock Angelz dolls (sans Roxxi) that make them different. All of the new Rock Angelz are theorized to have used the tampo (also known as “sticker”) method to apply their facial features that the original Rock Angelz Roxxi also used, while the core four Rock Angelz dolls from 2005 used the spray method. Some fans are upset with the tampo method as it has altered some of the dolls’ facial features and some dolls are more prone to look wonky. Please note that it is not confirmed if the dolls use the tampo method and this is just a theory. Another theory is that the dolls’ faces are UV printed, which is another cost-effective and fast method often used on dolls from other companies. Each doll has a belly button piercing, but does not include a navel tattoo like some variants of the OG Rock Angelz. Another notable difference between the reproductions and the originals is that the new dolls have longer hair, some of the clothing use different fabrics from the OGs, the box shape is slightly rounder, some accessories are missing, the CD is replaced with a QR code that directs consumers to a website called BratzRockAngelz.com, and the 20 Yearz logo motif is added. Additionally, Sasha’s artwork has been altered to more accurately reflect her skintone. You can compare the reproductions with pictures of the originals from this page: https://www.lookinbratz.com/database/bratz-2005/dolls (look under “Rock Angelz”).

WHAT ABOUT THE CRUISER?

The Rock Angelz Cruiser is also coming out, but there are some differences with it! The Cruiser is not an exact replica of the original Rock Angelz Cruiser, but rather a reproduction of the original FM Cruiser from 2002 in a new color scheme. The Cruiser does not come with a doll, although it was originally listed as having one back in March. You can check out pictures of the new Rock Angelz Cruiser in the gallery below (click on an image to see it in gallery view)!

PRICE POINT

The Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls will retail at $36.99 USD and the Cruiser will retail at $60.99 USD.

WHERE CAN THE DOLLS AND CRUSIER BE PURCHASED?

So far, the Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls and Cruiser are available for pre-order on Amazon. The dolls should be available on Amazon internationally, so be sure to check out your country’s Amazon to see if they get them in stock! I will not be posting about each country’s Amazon that gets them in stock.

In the United States, the dolls are expected to arrive in brick-and-mortar Walmart and Target stores as their listings have been found in those store’s systems; however, I recommend waiting till MGA/Bratz (check out the official Bratz social media channels) for announcements about this. For other countries, I recommend checking out the stores and online retailers that received the other 20 Yearz reproduction dolls from earlier this year to see if they get the Rock Angelz in stock. Some stores that previously received the 20 Yearz Special Edition dolls are Walmart (Canada), Myer (Australia), Toyworld (Australia), Toy Kingdom (Philippines), Toys “R” Us (Philippines), Lazada (Philippines), and The Entertainer (United Kingdom). If any announcements pop up over the coming weeks about availability, they will likely be posted all over the Lookin’ Bratz Instagram (check out the story or “News 2021” story highlights), Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

You can also contact MGA Entertainment’s international offices at https://www.mgae.com/contact to find out if they will be sold at retailers in your country!

RELEASE DATE

The dolls are listed as being available on October 1, 2021, but MGA Customer Care has confirmed that the dolls should be available on October 5, 2021. There is no guarantee that the dolls will be available on these dates as distribution of products has been sporadic due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Your best bet is to be patient and wait for official announcements made on the Bratz social media channels!

LINKS?

LIMITED EDITION?

Nope. The Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz reproduction dolls will not be limited edition.

QUALITY CONTROL

As mentioned previously, the dolls are prone to having wonky faces; this means that some eye placements may be misaligned or lips may be uneven, some facial flaws are expected to happen in production. It should be noted that toy production has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, so toys are taking longer to be manufactured and shipped outside of China. Thus, there is more demand for dolls and that means production on products is rushed to meet that demand. Take this into account when purchasing new dolls, and try to buy in-stores (if possible, of course) to find the doll you consider perfect.

ARE MORE DOLLS COMING OUT?

As far as anyone knows, there will be no more Rock Angelz dolls coming out. However, more Bratz dolls are expected to come out later this year. You can check out a list of all the upcoming releases on the Bratz 20th Anniversary Masterpost at https://www.lookinbratz.com/blog/bratz-2021-news!

This article will be updated with any new information that may come out. Stay tuned to LookinBratz.com for more news on the Girls with a Passion for Fashion, and make sure to check out Lookin’ Bratz on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and TikTok for more scorchin’ Bratz content and news!

UPDATE 10/19/21: It was speculated that the Bratz Rock Angelz 20 Yearz dolls would make their way to stores on October 11th when a Walmart U.S. employee stated that they expected to get them in on that date, but this has not happened since.

A few days ago, Cloe, Yasmin, and Jade’s listings were updated to include the following: “Collect Cloe, Yasmin, and Jade Bratz Rock Angelz dolls and the Bratz Rock Angelz Cruiser. Available now! Sasha and Roxxi coming soon!” Based on this description, it can be assumed that there are production delays and that there might be some changes made to the next batch of dolls because many fans were disappointed by the quality control on the first batch. Because there is a toy shortage this year, we may not be able to buy these dolls for a few months; it may even be until next year before fans can get their hands on the new Rock Angelz dolls.

There has been one instance of an Instagram user finding Roxxi at a GameStop in Canada, but nobody else has reported finding them in physical retailers yet. In the meantime, it may be best to wait for MGA/Bratz to address this release as no other information has materialized.

UPDATE 11/18/21: In case you missed it, the Bratz Rock Angelz website was released and updated with downloadable content featuring animated Rock Angelz artwork by Raja Dava. Rock Angelz Roxxi and Sasha have been confirmed to be recalled, and they are expected to be re-released with improvements eventually. MGA and Bratz have provided no timeline on the re-release of Roxxi and Sasha, but have started advertising Cloe, Yasmin, Jade, and the Cruiser. I will not be posting any more updates regarding the Rock Angelz release until something significant happens.

Bratz x Revolution Makeup Collaboration Coming Soon! (UPDATED 06/16/21)

Hey Angelz!

CLICK TO ENLARGE: One of the Bratz x Revolution Makeup palettes, featuring character art of the core four girls and 27 eyeshadow pans.

Bratz makeup is officially on the way and Lookin’ Bratz has the scoop, of course! Earlier today, Revolution Makeup teased the upcoming collaboration on their official Instagram account with a video and caption announcing that the collab will officially be announced on Monday, June 7th.

According to PopSugar, the collection will feature 23 products and is set to launch on Friday, June 18th. The collection will be available on Ulta.com and RevolutionBeauty.com. Revolution Beauty ships internationally, so worldwide Angelz will have the opportunity to buy them! Price points are currently unknown.

CLICK TO ENLARGE: Another look at the new Bratz x Revolution Beauty 27-pan eyeshadow palette.

As for what exactly will be featured in the collection has not been announced yet, but I will continue to update this article with more news about the collection as it comes out! In the meantime, PopSugar has revealed a 27-pan eyeshadow palette featuring a case with artwork of the core four girls on it. If you look closely at the pans, you may notice some very nostalgic shade names. The smaller eyeshadow pan names are: “Fashion Pack”, “Cloe”, “Sasha”, “Jade”, “Yasmin”, “Diamondz”, “Oh, You Boyz!”, “Passion”, “Fashion”, “Funky”, “Feelin’ Pretty”, “Tweevils”, “Super Stylin’”, “My Girlz”, “Funkalish”, “All Together”, “Convertible”, “Doll”, “Shopping Spree”, “Stilesville”, “Midnight Dance”, “Magazine”, “Rock Angelz”, and “Pretty ‘N’ Punk”. In the center of the palette are three larger eyeshadows, which are named “Accessorize”, “Halo”, and “Bratitude”. Wow, so many Bratz references all in one palette!

I am super excited for this collection as both a cosmetics and Bratz fan! And if you don’t know yet, Lookin’ Bratz is named after the first Bratz cosmetics line from 2003 so seeing new Bratz makeup come out is amazing! A Bratz makeup collection that is not “kids makeup” is long overdue, so I’m happy that MGA is collaborating with Revolution considering they have done other major collabs with properties like Disney and Friends.

Stay tuned to this article and Lookin’ Bratz on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter for updates on the Bratz x Revolution Beauty makeup collection!

Bratz 20 Yearz Dolls: What We Know So Far! (UPDATED 07/24/21)

Hey Angelz!

If you’ve been following Lookin’ Bratz (@lookinbratz) on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, you’ll know that it’s been an exciting news-filled day for the Bratz community! This blog post is intended as a breakdown of what has happened in the past day, focusing on the details of the release of the new Bratz 20 Yearz Original reproduction dolls. Keep reading if you want to learn more!

WHAT HAPPENED TODAY + HOT TOPIC RELEASE DATES

On May 19th, The Toy Book released an official article announcing the Bratz comeback to the doll market, with information regarding the First Edition re-releases that were originally expected to come out in August.

Official image for the Bratz 20 Yearz Special Edition Original Fashion Doll line for 2021, courtesy of The Toy Book.

In their article, The Toy Book writer James Zahn states that the First Edition reproductions will be sold exclusively in Hot Topic stores in the United States starting June 2nd. On their Instagram, The Toy Book confirmed that Hot Topic will begin selling the dolls on their website starting May 21st (the official date of the Bratz anniversary!). An exact time of when the dolls will be posted for sale on Hot Topic’s website is unknown.

While fans began anticipating the release of the dolls, the Hot Topic location in Burbank, California posted a photo soon after the announcement on their Instagram page (@htburbank) with all four dolls in their box stating they were already for sale! After that, Hot Topic stores across California started posting about having Bratz in stock.

Bratz fans went into a fashion frenzy as the dolls kept popping up at Hot Topic locations across the Golden State, leading them to wonder when the dolls would pop up at their local Hot Topic stores and in other stores.

OTHER STORES CARRYING BRATZ AND INTERNATIONAL RELEASES

The Toy Book has confirmed that the new Bratz reproductions will be available on Amazon’s website and in Target and Walmart stores in the U.S. starting in July, but an exact date is not known at this time.

While U.S. fans have an idea of when dolls will be hitting stores, there is still no word on when MGA plans on releasing the dolls internationally. It can be assumed that the dolls will be available via Amazon internationally since listings have popped up for the dolls on the Amazon website in several countries, but no physical or online stores (aside from gamespod.co.uk who will be selling them online for UK consumers) have had listings pop up. There is also a chance that Argos and Smyths stores in the UK will be selling them; this is not confirmed, just a theory as several people have contacted both stores and Smyths stated that they “do not have any information on whether we will be stocking the Bratz dolls” but to “keep on an eye on our website for potential stock”. In Australia, Bratz fan Rahnie S. contacted Myer (who eventually stocked the Collector 2018 dolls) regarding the new Bratz dolls; Myer replied that the Bratz dolls, under the name “Bratz Original Doll”, will be “available with us in the coming weeks”. As of June 3, 2021, Myer stores have begun receiving shipments of the new Bratz dolls and some are already putting them on shelves. MGA will likely announce when the Bratz will hit international markets on the official Bratz social media account so stay tuned to those!

Make sure to contact your local retailers to see if they will be stocking the dolls! You can also contact MGA’s international offices here to find out if they will be selling them in your country.

PRICE POINT

At Hot Topic, the dolls retail for $29.90 USD, which is higher than many of us expected. Hot Topic tends to charge more than the suggested retail price for many of their products, so keep in mind that this will likely not be the price for the dolls once they are sold by Amazon, Target, Walmart, and other retailers. The price is expected to be around $19.99 USD at most U.S. retailers in July.

WHAT DO THE DOLLS LOOK LIKE?

CLICK TO ENLARGE: The back side of Bratz 20 Yearz Cloe’s box.

As expected, the Bratz 20 Yearz dolls are near-exact replicas as the original Bratz dolls that came out in 2001. Noticeable differences with the reproduced dolls are the slightly different screenings, makeup colors, and the longer (and possibly thicker) hair. Small details that are changed from the OG dolls are some of the fabrics and prints used. In terms of packaging, the new dolls come in completely holographic trapezoid-shaped boxes with a “Bratz 20 Yearz” logo motif on the front; the back of the boxes are nearly identical to the OG boxes, except with updated doll pictures and the addition of the 20 Yearz logo.

WHAT THE DOLLS COME WITH

Each new Bratz 20 Yearz dolls comes with 2 mix-and-match fashions, two pairs of shoes, a headband or hat, a bag, hairbrush, and holographic poster.

LIMITED EDITION?

Are you worried you won’t get your hands on one of the new Bratz dolls because they might be limited edition? Don’t worry! These dolls are mass-produced and will not be limited edition according to Mar Cantos (content creator for Bratz who also designed the “20 Yearz” logo) in a recent tweet. There will be plenty of Bratz to go around!

BRATZ BOYZ REPRODUCTIONS

Other fans were curious about what is going on with the Bratz Boyz reproductions. A listing for a reproduction of Bratz Boyz First Edition Cameron came out not too long ago, but he is not in the lineup with the core girls. This is nothing to worry about as the dolls have not been officially announced by MGA or Bratz yet and there is still more to come throughout the year. The release date for Cameron was originally set for August 2021 when the listings were first published on Amazon, so we can expect him by then or perhaps when the dolls hit other stores in July.

QUALITY CONTROL

Wondering about the quality of the new dolls? Several Instagram users have already purchased the dolls and have confirmed that the new dolls have saran hair, which is great news! Some of the face screenings seen in pictures have looked noticeably wonky, particularly with Sasha and Cloe. In another tweet, Mar claimed that fans should wait till MGA officially announces the dolls to avoid getting wonky dolls. It is highly possible that the dolls being sold currently at Hot Topic are early production runs that are likely more wonky than those from later production runs, so it may be best to wait a bit to buy the dolls if you want a perfect face.

WHAT’S NEXT?

The reproduction 20 Yearz dolls are not the only Bratz dolls coming out this year! There are several other collections, both new and rereleases, set to come out throughout the year. If you want to learn more, check out the Bratz 20th Anniversary Masterpost for all the details of what we know so far!

Bratz Total Fashion Makeover is OUT NOW! (Plus Download Links!)

Hey Angelz!

The Tweevils, Kirstee and Kaycee, in the Bratz Total Fashion Makeover game.

The Tweevils, Kirstee and Kaycee, in the Bratz Total Fashion Makeover game.

The wait is officially OVER! The new mobile app game Bratz Total Fashion Makeover is out NOW! Along with all the features I reported on in the previous article regarding the game, the game also features fan favorite characters like the Tweevils from the film, television, and video game series! Other characters like Burdine (the landlord of the apartment building in this game) and Kumi have been referenced so far, so there’s a good chance we’ll see these characters and more pop up in the future. In fact, There’s a special guest appearance by one of these characters at the end of Chapter One, but you can find all that out once you play! ;)

In addition to the Tweevils’ resurrection, the game features locations from the series like the Mall and the Magazine Office! This is a definite treat for long-time Bratz fans and collectors who grew up watching the television and film series and playing the video games. I personally cannot wait to see how this app grows and I hope there are consistent updates.

Bratz New Game Title + Plot Revealed! (UPDATED 04/29/21)

Hey Angelz!

Well, the Kool Kat is out of the bag! I unexpectedly came across the website for the new Bratz mobile game that was teased by the Bratz social media accounts last Tuesday. The title of the new Bratz game is… Bratz Total Fashion Makeover! Sound familiar? It’s almost like Funky Fashion Makeover, but not quite the same.

The website for the new game is currently live and features a countdown for its release date, which is April 30th at 9am EST according to the countdown.

As for the plot of Bratz Total Fashion Makeover, a webpage that is still under construction (this page has been taken down as of 04/13/21) gives the following description:

Join Sasha, Cloe, Yasmin, and Jade on a red carpet adventure! Welcome to the world of Bratz Total Fashion Makeover. Embark on an epic journey to go from no-name wannabe to the most elite fashion icon in the world.

The game’s plot sounds very similar to other popular mobile games like Kim Kardashian: Hollywood and Britney Spears: American Dream. Based on the teaser posted last week, it seems like this game will combine the essence of celebrity-based games with elements of a dress-up game. In my last blog post, I mentioned that the Bratz Lookz website has been taken down; it seems like Total Fashion Makeover may be a replacement for Lookz as some of the promised features are similar. The TFM website claims that the game will give players the opportunity to play puzzles, earn coins to level up, and fix up their virtual apartments, which is similar to the concept of the Bratz Popz minigame that was supposed to come out alongside Bratz Lookz.

Total Fashion Makeover seems like a great way to engage Bratz fans virtually, especially since most fans grew up loving the original Bratz video games and have been begging for more games for years. I hope this game is a success and I can’t wait to play it when it comes out later this month! Bratz Total Fashion Makeover will be available in the Apple App Store and on Google Play on April 30th.

Keep checking out the Lookin’ Bratz blog and @lookinbratz on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter this week as we celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of Genie Magic!

It looks like the original title of the game was Bratz: Fame & Fashion, but will be released as Bratz Total Fashion Makeover.
